There was a piece of news talking about teacher’s nightmare in

Sweden

recently. It said that 82.5 percents of teachers felt they would suffer violence and threat from students everyday when they go to work. 45.2 percents of teachers thought that violence and threat in school were increasing. 6 percents had been treated with physical violence while 12 percents had other harassment. The percentage was so high at every statistics! After reading this news, I realized that although

Sweden

was one of the most suitable places in the world to live, it still had some problems in their society and sometimes Taiwanese really did not need to be jealous or angry why we could not have the same ranking. I asked Swedish how they would do after this survey, but it seemed that they did not have positive solutions. I wondered if they could punish students if they had done something bad to anyone, but the answer was no. Unlike

Taiwan

,

Sweden

was the first country saying that it is absolutely forbidden to punish or abuse kids no matter who you are under any situation according to the law. And adults need to be educated themselves more about the protection of kids before I was a staff at the Swedish national scout jamboree for example.

However, I had a feeling that Swedish students were very free to do anything. For instance, I went to audit a course in a university. During the break, students told me that they could decide themselves how long the break they wanted, since there was no reminder at all. And then, we took break for 40 minutes at that time and the teacher did not say or complain anything afterwards. Could it happen in

Taiwan

? Of course not! Teachers in

Taiwan

even use roll books! I have no idea which system is better, for I grew up in a more disciplined environment after all. Go back to the news, after being teacher, of course I do not abuse kids by my language or strength, but I feel frustrated and helpless when I face those naughty students. I do show my respect to them already, but how about them? Once they have media or powerful people as their supporter, teacher’s situation will be tougher and tougher. I hope experts can think of solutions for those poor teachers who have nightmares of confronting annoying students as soon as possible!
